Why did we create Bosco's? What's our story?

We created Bosco's in memory of one of our dogs which was a chocolate mixed labrador dog named Bosco. He was the sweetest boy and the friendliest dog we've ever had. Bosco lived a long happy life with his younger sister-Bean- and with us who adored him and spoiled him rotten. Although we came too late to the realization that a lot of the soaps, treats, and dog food we were giving him contained harmful ingredients, like formaldehyde and BHA, that were worsening his health. Those ingredients gave him skin rashes, body tumors, and worsened his hip problems so badly that he couldn't walk on his own anymore. The medication that was recommended from our veterinarian wasn't working and due to his old age, he had a very slim chance of surviving any major surgery. We could tell he was in pain, and we had to make a very difficult decision. After his passing, we decided to do more research in pet product guidelines and nutrition. Since there are a lot of unhealthy and dangerous ingredients in pet products, we started making our own treats at home the natural way for Bean and our new dogs, and we later created a business out of it as Bosco's much-deserved remembrance.

 

Since 2020, we have been creating and selling various goodies for pets throughout Illinois at local farmers markets and craft shows. In 2021, we were influenced by our customers' idea of opening up our very first store in New Lenox, Illinois and we called it "Bosco's All Natural". It was a very small brick and mortar, but we made it work for as long as we could. In May of 2024, we closed down that location and stayed online while doing local market events until we found a bigger and better-quality building.  In February of 2025, we opened up a new brick and mortar in downtown Tinley Park called "Bosco's Marketplace".  Since our new store is so much more spacious, we decided to expand with local vendors who provide various items for the humans. Where are our animal parts and other pet product sourced?

We deal with four small farmers directly in Iowa, Illinois, Texas, & Tennessee. These farmers use as much as they can of each animal for both human and pet consumption. None of the animals are killed for sport or in a cruel manner. All these farms are family-owned, cruelty free, and their animals are close to 100% grass fed. The animal parts are all then processed freeze dried, dehydrated, and/or smoked to make it a more digestible chew for your pet. No GMO's, no harmful additives or preservatives, no splintering, and absolutely no rawhide. A very clean, safe, and ethical process for your pets to enjoy their delicious treats!  We still produce our very own treats right here in Illinois with real, natural, and fresh ingredients in a home kitchen.  We also carry high quality brands like Chew and Heal, Fromm Family Foods, CBD Dog Health, and others which are produced in neighboring states. We've given our new dogs- Loki, Tank, and Pluto- a natural and healthy lifestyle, let us do the same for yours!
